Gentle, Compassionate Support When Behaviour Becomes Unmanageable

At-Home Behavioural Euthanasia in Perth

When a pet’s behaviour becomes so severe, unpredictable, or dangerous that it endangers the safety of your family, other pets, or the public, putting down an aggressive dog may, sadly, be the most humane and responsible option available.

Find out more about behavioural euthanasia below or call now to discuss with Dr Patrick.

Why Choose Behavioural Euthanasia at Home?

  1. Thorough Evaluation First
We begin with a compassionate and comprehensive assessment of your pet’s health and behaviour. This includes ruling out underlying medical causes such as pain or neurological issues and ensuring there has been an exploration of behaviour modification strategies.
  2. Protecting Safety and Welfare
If your pet’s aggression remains persistent and unpredictable – despite professional intervention – it may pose a serious risk. This is often the case where babies or young children are added to the family unit. In such cases, euthanasia may be the kindest outcome for all involved.
  3. Preserve Your Pet’s Quality of Life
Long-term strategies like muzzles, isolation, or tight confinement can significantly reduce your pet’s wellbeing. Our approach considers whether these management methods continue to benefit or inadvertently diminish quality of life.
  4. Calm, Dignified Farewell at Home
If euthanasia is the most compassionate choice, our at-home service ensures a peaceful passing in the safety and comfort of familiar surroundings – reducing stress for your pet and giving your family the privacy needed during this emotional time.

The Ark Angel Vet At Home Euthanasia Process

What To Expect From At Home Dog Euthanasia Procedure

To support families during this challenging time, Dr Patrick has created a unique euthanasia protocol. This ensures pets’ comfort while acknowledging and respecting the rituals that assist grieving families.

A detailed protocol will be emailed before Dr Patrick visits. The protocol explains what to expect during the euthanasia procedure, including clipping the injection site and pre-sedation.

  • As a gesture of respect, Dr Patrick will offer candles, music and flowers for your family to spread over your pet after passing.
  • Aftercare arrangements will be made on your behalf and according to your wishes. Your pet will be collected from your home and transported to the pet cremation facility in a pet bed to ensure comfort on their final journey.
  • Dr Patrick will follow up with a phone call the following day to offer advice and referral to grief support services if needed.
  • Your preferred veterinary practice will be notified of your pet’s passing, and a death certificate will be issued.
