Compassionate Support
For the whole family

Our Approach to At Pet Home Euthanasia
Peaceful Farewell in Comfort: Our primary goal is to ensure the euthanasia process is as peaceful and stress-free as possible for both your pet and your family.
Dr Patrick personally guides families through the process, providing support, answering questions, and allowing you the time you need with your pet afterwards, ensuring you can proceed through those final moments at your own pace.
Support for the Entire Family: Understanding the impact of a pet’s passing on children, Dr. Patrick takes special care to explain the process in an age-appropriate manner.
We ensure your pet is relaxed and resting comfortably under a full general anaesthetic before administering the final injection. This approach allows children to process, grieve, and gain closure in their own way, perhaps through a special ceremony, creating art, or writing a goodbye card to honour their pet’s life.
Our Commitment to Compassionate Care
Dr. Patrick and the Ark Angel Vet team are dedicated to providing a compassionate end-of-life experience for your pet, supporting you and your family’s needs during this difficult time.
We aim to make this transition as gentle as possible, ensuring that children feel supported and have positive memories of honouring their pet’s passing meaningfully.
Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any specific considerations regarding your child’s participation in the process or wish to discuss how we can further support your family during this time.
Our goal is to provide empathy and support for all family members before, during, and after the appointment.

About Dr. Patrick Africano
Dr. Patrick Africano has been providing pet euthanasia and end-of-life care in Perth with as little stress as possible for pets and their families for over 40years.
Having euthanised my pets at various times throughout my life, I know firsthand how difficult it is for dedicated and loving pet owners when it comes to the decision-making, the process and the grief that follows.
I was born and raised in Perth, Western Australia to Italian parents. During my childhood, I lived on a small farm where I helped to look after dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, peacocks, guinea fowls, pigeons, and rabbits. I remember being interested in science and medicine from an early age, around the age of 10, I decided that I was going to study veterinary medicine instead of human medicine.
I graduated from Murdoch University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Biology and Veterinary Medicine & Surgery in 1980. From 1980 to 1981, I worked in various veterinary hospitals and clinics around Perth before opening my first mixed animal practice in Jandakot 1981. Due to Perth’s rapid growth and a subsequent increase in pet ownership, I opened my second small animal practice in 1994.
In 2011 I started Western Suburbs Mobile Vet, which is a home-based consultation service dedicated to all people with pets living in the Perth Western Suburbs.
2021 I started Ark Angel Vet to provide peaceful home-based euthanasia for pets in the Perth Metro area – Nedlands, Malaga, Midland, Hillarys, Jandakot, Borragoon, Fremantle, Henderson, Joondalup, Welshpool, Scarborough, Canning Vale. If your suburb is not listed please SMS Patrick as we can not list every suburb.
I am continuously modifying the home euthanasia process, and it is my passion to make it an honourable and respectful experience for pets and their families.

I’m so please we engaged Dr Patrick to facility a peaceful and fitting passing of our beloved dog Ozzie at our home. Kind caring articulate and considerate. So much better for Ozzie who always got anxious when even on the vet route let along at the vet clinic.
Dr Patrick is wonderful, very empathetic and respectful. I couldn’t have asked for a kinder man to help pass my Evie over the rainbow bridge. Made a sad day just a bit more bearable 🌈

Dr Patrick came to my home to euthanise our beloved family dog, Sparky. Sparky was 17 years old and the heart of the family. Making the decision to euthanise her was a very painful one, although the right decision. I was recommended Dr. Patrick and I cannot speak more highly of his service. He was respectful, thoughtful and the service he provided gentle and considered. The added touch of candles, flower petals, orange oil and a box to hold memorabilia were special and made the whole process calm and reverend. Thank you so much!
On one of the most difficult days, Dr. Patrick's compassion and patience brought us great comfort. He treated our beloved boy with kindness and deep respect, guiding him through his final moments peacefully. While we will always feel the ache of his loss, Dr. Patrick ensured that our last moments together truly reflected the love we had for him.
Thank you Dr Patrick - Ark Angel Vet. You made the passing of our dog Charlie the best it could possibly be. We were so glad we decided to have you come to our home and involve our boys in the most positive and personal way. Billy and I would like to thank you very much, we highly recommend using the services of Ark Angel Vet.
When our pets suffer, so do we. Allowing your pet to pass with love and dignity was a priority when our precious boy, Tobi looked into our eyes yesterday morning and said” it’s time, I’ve had enough “ Whilst letting them go is one of your hardest decisions, you hope to send them off in the very best way. They are our babies. I reached out to Dr Patrick Africano. I had his card from previous home visit. Patrick was so sincere and helpful and, confirmed that dear Tobi was ready. We had him in our arms, looking into our eyes. He felt comforted and safe. We stayed with him in his favourite place in our own home whilst he closed his eyes and went peacefully and calmly. The service afterwards was healing and helpful to accepting our own grief. We can’t express how perfect Tobi’s send off was. Dr Patrick checked on us later in the day and kept us notified of the moment Tobi’s body had arrived to the pet crematorium. Word and feelings for a kind loving Doctor for his rare special attention to those of us in pain💔💔💔💔
I can't express enough gratitude for Dr. Patrick and his incredible support during such a difficult time. From our very first phone call, he provided reassurance and compassion when we needed it most. When it came time to say goodbye to our beloved Gizmo, Dr. Patrick treated both him and us with the utmost respect and kindness. The thoughtful memorial touches after his passing brought us great comfort and made a world of difference. If you find yourself in the heartbreaking position of having to say goodbye to your pet, I wholeheartedly recommend reaching out to Dr. Patrick. Thank you, Dr. Patrick, from the depths of our hearts. Your kindness will always be remembered. -Michael & Whitney
We can’t thank Dr Patrick enough for his kindness and compassion with helping our beloved Ruby pass over. He was available at short notice and made the whole process as comfortable as possible.
We had to make the decision after our Rosie became unwell over night. Dr Partick was very compassionate and caring throughout the whole process. To have Rosie at home meant everything to us. We were with her right to the end. She passed peacefully and with dignity surrounded by her family. If you are in the situation where you have to make the choice for your pet I highly recommend Dr Patrick.
Dr Patrick came at very late notice, but was professional and compassionate the whole way. We appreciated his soft spoken and caring nature with our little girl
Dr Patrick was amazing - 5 stars are not enough for the service he provided. My beloved Austin passed over to the other world so peacefully with us there holding his paws. I would recommend Dr Patrick to anyone having to say goodbye to a loved fur baby his compassion and professionalism was truly remarkable
A big warm thank you to Dr Patrick for being available, gentle and so very kind and supportive. I had to say goodbye to my furry mate of 16 years today and he was just lovely as was his special farewell process. Cannot recommend enough.
We said goodbye to our beloved dog Frank today. Dr Patrick was patient, respectful and informed and explained the processes every step of the way. He gave Frank a beautiful ceremony with flowers, candles and a keepsake box. Thank you Dr Patrick, we’re glad we found you, you made Frank’s journey comfortable and we appreciate you. I wish to thank Dr Patrick for assisting my big boy 'Ernie' Dingo on Saturday morning. Ernie became quite ill overnight and Dr Patrick attended our home 2 hours after I called him Saturday morning. Ernie was 15 years old and was able to leave us in his own bed comfortable and respectfully. We were all extremely happy with the process which was very humane and painless. I wish to thank Dr Patrick for his caring and understanding for both Ernie, myself and my wife.
